USA Softball owes a lot to Jennie Finch. Because before she came along, there was absolutely no interest in the sport. None. In fact, I’m pretty sure had she not stormed onto the scene a few years ago when she did, they would have disbanded Team USA. Why? Because it wasn’t marketable. I know the Olympic television coverage of softball would be non-existent. But add a hot blonde into the mix, and then you have USA softball mania!
My understanding is that in 2012 there will be no softball at the London Olympics. I can’t confirm this, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Jennie Finch has decided to hang them up, and that is the reason why they decided to kick softball to the curb. I guess I can Google this theory to see if there is any truth to it, but nah. I’m too lazy. And quite frankly, I just don’t care. I just want to look at Jennie Finch some more.
